I've recently pulled out a project that I should have finished a long time ago. My Cottage Creations Log Cabin baby blanket, in Berroco Comfort DK. It's such an easy knit, and why I put it away is beyond me!
I've decided to make 12 squares. This will be plenty big for a baby blanket. I started to lay the squares out on the floor last night, and I'm having a dilemma. How should I arrange them when it's time to piece them together?
Keep in mind that all stitches are live and on holders, and will be seamed with three needle bind-off (I believe... my pattern is MIA at the moment - oops!) So there will be another color in between the pieces. This could have a dramatic effect on it visually.
So I'm not a quilter, but I know that log cabin quilts can be arranged in many different ways. And if I made 16 squares, I would have more options. So far I've come up with a diagonal option: a diamond option: and a zigzag option: Maybe if I use the red to seam it could look like this? What do you think? Any suggestions?
I like the diagonal layout the best.
ReplyDeleteJill, have you ever tried a slip-stitch crochet seam? Looks pretty much the same as a 3-needle BO but just as fast. Then you could skip the step of waste yarn and putting stitches back on needles. (prob too late for this project though)
